Regenerate
Hello, this is my submission for the Regenerate Game Jam. This game is about finding the balance between the number of people you have and the crops you plant, while planning ahead for possible invasions.
For this jam i was going to use a custom-made engine, but I couldn't get my ScreenPointToRay equivalent working, which, is pretty necessary for the top-down style of games.
If you rate my game and leave a comment I'll try do the same for you!
Controls
tl;dr There is a "?" button in game(just above the time system in the bottom left corner) which tells you all the controls with labels, which may be easier to understand, you should still read the mechanics section though.
shift + left click: "pan" camera
left click: Use selected tool
Menus
Top-Left: Tool menu, click to select a tool, tools -in order from top to bottom are Plant, Fight and Harvest.
Bottom-Left: Time controls, pause, speed up time and skip entire seasons!
Bottom-Right: Current time
Top-Right: Current stats, click the "person" icon to stop people reproducing. NOTE that clicking the icon is necessary in the first stages of the game, you cannot survive until your first harvest without it.
Mechanics
Loose game-loop
Winter/Spring -Plant crops
Summer -Harvest crops and stockpile for winter.
Combat
Over time, squares become "conquered", you cannot plant or harvest on these squares, you can retake them while losing 0-5 people per square, so its best to deal with them quickly -be wary when you skip, because it takes time for the red squares to appear after you finish.
Credits
I made this game myself in the allotted time period, I used Unity as the engine, but I did use a royalty-free music track titled:
"Energizing" by Kevin MacLeod which may be found here(towards bottom of list)

Interesting elements at play, not sure how gameplay works even after reading instructions but like that the music is atmospheric and all the buttons do something, but did not see enemies to fight nor a way to benefit from planting so seems like a good game in-the-making!
